Clear Visions

As we have seen in the film shown in class, it is very important to have a clear vision of our future. The goals I really want to reach in my life and have a clear vision for is to become a real estate developer and also teach mathematics in high school or college.

Infarct i have always been interested in architecture and home decoration. So I really want to become a real estate developer. I find it fascinating to transform an old building into a nicer modern one through renovation, or improve a parcel to make it more profitable. I am interested in real estate because it allows you to transform ideas and plans into real property.
So besides being a finance major which will help me understand how to get loans and attractive mortgages, I have been to several real estate seminars and plan on going to more in the near future. I also read a lot about it and work part time as a rental agent, which allows me to learn a lot about buildings an people's needs.

As i said earlier, I also have a passion for mathematics, and think it is a very interesting subject and the best mental exercise. So I want to also teach mathematics in the future, in high school or college. To reach that goal, I plan on taking some education courses, and also I plan on getting my PHD.

I also have in mind a personal goal of winning the NYC five borough marathon, which covers a distance of 26 miles. I have always been a running addict and love to run, but the five borough marathon is a very challenging one. I have participated a couple of times, but have never even been among the first 20 arrivals. To make possible that vision of winning that marathon some day, I train a lot and run six miles at least five times a week.

Really, architect? wow, I cannot tell seriously, and teaching kids MATH? man you really have been hiding your true identity. Well definitely go for the math teacher, if you can stand math and actually like teaching kids then go for it. Its a great stable job, good benefits. The real estate is good too, but you know how the house price today, and not mention the mortgage...but who knows...maybe after a few years it would go back right up...just keep working on your degree (or higher degree) and if the economy turns around, why not give it a shot. And Marathon, you know what they said, some people are natural at it...and you know who those people are...(not to be racist) :D.

It sounds a little bit wired since both of them are all about jobs.
But I think to be a real estate developer does need good mathematics skills. And since you are a part time rental agent now, you already going forward to your vision.
I hope your goals can be true.

Thank you for supporting my vision of helping others. I agree with you in that it is a very noble thing to do, and perhaps the most important thing to do in this world where there is so much suffering. I encourage you to continue your winter volunteer activities in homeless shelters.

Your vision of teaching math really spoke to me. I am Chinese, so statistically; I definitely share your passion for mathematics. This is one statistic that happens to be true. I have always liked math because numbers are universal and there is always only one right answer or one right answer with many different forms. Math just makes sense to me. You are correct in stating that math is the greatest mental exercise, because there is nothing like having the pieces fit while working out some complex math problem. I have had many a daydream about becoming a teacher of some kind, but I don’t think I could stand the kids. I really admire that you have a vision of becoming a teacher; because I feel that it is one of the noblest professions out there; spreading knowledge. Best of luck on your path to teaching the universal language.

Real estate does seem interesting as I too will take part on the side. Not too many people have a passion for math. Many are good in it but dont have the urge to. Perhaps you should indulge in that and become a teacher. The marathon thing is something I wanted to do but dont have the endurance for. I will make an attempt though.

I think the goal of being a mathematics teacher to high school students is a very interesting goal. Children these days have been taking a downward trend in math and the interest in it has been really falling. This is why your goal of becoming a math teacher is a great vision, you can become apart of the solution and help kids get back to falling in love with math. It is a noble path that you want to follow and I admire you for it. Good Luck!
